Woman assaulted in front of her children
Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was seriously assaulted in front of her children.
The 42-year-old was assaulted by a woman in Wilcox Road, Vauxhall, at around 3pm on Tuesday.
The victim suffered head and facial injuries. She did not know her attacker.
The victim’s husband, who was inside a shop when the incident happened, came to her aid and confronted the suspect, who assaulted him, causing a minor injury.
The victim’s two young children, although not physically injured, were extremely distressed by the attack on their mother.
The injured woman was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a South London hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
Police arrested a 42-year-old woman nearby on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
She was taken to a South London police station and was subsequently released under investigation.
