Woman remains in critical condition after suspected drug driver crash

A woman remains in critical condition in hospital after a car and a motorcycle collided in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police were called at around 1.30am to reports of a collision in Garratt Lane, Wandsworth.

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended the scene where a motorcycle and a Honda Civic had crashed.

A woman, aged 30, who was a pillion passenger on the motorcycle, was seriously injured.

She was treated at the scene by medics before being taken to a west London hospital, where her condition remains critical, the Met said.

The male rider of the motorcycle, aged in his 40s, was also taken to hospital. His injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening.

The 22-year-old driver of the Honda Civic was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury. 

He was taken to a west London police station and has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in March.

A spokesman from the Met said: “Road closures and cordons remain in place.

“Anyone who witnessed this incident or has footage should police on 101 or Tweet on ‘X’ @MetCC quoting 385/3JAN.”
