Wombles Walk… back to Plough Lane 30 April 2022

Dons fans will walk a lot further than the original Wombles ever could – or than the Crazy Gang ever staggered – to raise money for community work on the last day of the season.

The ‘Wombles Walk… back to Plough Lane’ is a 10km or 20 km sponsored walk to raise funds for AFC Wimbledon Foundation’s vital work in the local community on Saturday  April 30.

Supporters may have slightly shaky legs as they do the distance, as Mark Robinson’s stuttering team try to evade a first relegation in their history.

Starting on Wimbledon Common, where AFC Wimbledon held football trials 20 years ago, participants will walk around several of Merton’s beautiful parks, along the Wandle river and… back to Plough Lane in time for the last game of the season against Accrington Stanley.

The walk is open to anyone – all participants will receive fundraising support, an AFC Wimbledon Foundation T-Shirt and a finishers medal, as well as a training programme created by Execfit Training to help prepare for the walk.

There will be rest stops with refreshments along the route and participants will enjoy food and drink at the finish line celebration before the game.

There are also raffle prizes:

  • FREE tickets to AFC Wimbledon vs Accrington Stanley
  • Signed AFC Wimbledon footballs
  • Signed AFC Wimbledon football shirts
  • Meet and greets with our manager Robbo and some of our players
