You CAN leave your Christmas trees for the bin men in Croydon

Real Christmas trees can be left outside homes to  be collected over the following fortnight.

They can also be taken for recycling to any of the borough’s three tips.

Some council bin collections in Croydon have been delayed due to driver shortages blamed on Brexit and the ongoing Covid pandemic.

Anyone wishing to dispose of an artificial tree, Christmas decorations or old electrical item can drop them off at a new Community Reuse shop based at Fishers Farm tip.

Proceeds are set to go back into the running of the shop.

Councillor Muhammad Ali, cabinet member for sustainable Croydon, said: “A new year is a great time to commit to working to a greener future, by reusing and recycling – we can all do our bit to reduce our carbon footprint.

“Make 2022 the year to lower your carbon impacts, help tackle the climate emergency and make Croydon a sustainable borough.”
