Pedestrian critical after suspected hit-and-run in Wandsworth

An appeal has been issued for witnesses after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision in Lambeth.

Police were called at around 1.10am this morning to reports of a person found injured in Wandsworth Road near Wandsworth Road railway station.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition. His next of kin have been informed.

At this early stage, it is thought the pedestrian was involved in a collision with a car which failed to stop at the scene. Urgent enquiries are taking place to trace the driver.

Road closures are in place and motorists are advised to find alternative routes.

Any witnesses or drivers with dash cam footage are asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8285 1574. Alternatively, call 101 quoting CAD301/20Sep.
