People getting vaccines thank Croydon jab staff for being “super friendly”

Vaccination centre staff and volunteers helping south-west Londoners get their Covid-19 booster jab have been praised for being “super friendly”.

A stream of people visiting the vaccination centre at Croydon’s Centrale Shopping Centre were quick to offer their thanks for making the visit for the top-up dose so easy.

Jess and Paul Bailey are a couple who love to do everything together, even get their vaccinations.

Architect Paul said: “It’s been a great experience and the staff and volunteers have been super friendly. So, please come and get your booster and stay safe.”

Jess who got her jab moments before her partner, added: “We came to Centrale to get our boosters and I strongly urge you to do the same.”

Arthur Yeboah, 68, who is originally from Ghana, popped in after finishing work for the day as a security guard and was very pleased that he got his booster jab so quickly and without fuss.

He said: “There were no problems. It was fantastic as all the staff were lovely and it was easy to get my jab.

I cycle from Battersea to Croydon and back every day. I feel very good to have the vaccine. Protect yourself from the killer disease. It will not harm you, it will protect you.”

Another resident who went to the Centrale vaccination centre to get her booster was Fatima, an asylum seeker from Afghanistan, and she said: “The staff were very friendly and I feel happy.”

Sarah Fazal, 31, a solicitor from Croydon who is originally from Sri Lanka, said: “I feel really good and I encourage everyone to go out there and get their vaccines and protect themselves and everyone around them.”

Suprabha Damodaran, 76, who lives in Sutton, went with her daughter Jesy Sanilkumar to get her booster.

Jesy said: “My mother wanted to get the booster jab as all of her friends already have it and she was the last one in her group. So, she kept reminding me again and again to take her to get the jab. She is very happy now. She feels very well looked after by the NHS.”

Sisters Annie Ctcooeer, 70, and 61-year-old Rebecca Farley, who are originally from Liberia, supported each other.

Rebecca got her booster jab and said: “Everyone was so nice to us. I encourage everyone to take their jab and when I go home today, I will encourage my neighbours and friends and everyone to take the jab as I have no pain.”

Her sister Annie added: “Now we have all our jabs.”

Centrale vaccination centre matron Bernhard Krisifoe said: “Vaccinations are the main defence against Covid. It is never too late to come and have your vaccination.

Come and see our friendly and helpful team who can answer any questions before having your first, second or booster jab.”
