Peterborough transfer chief confirms Charlton’s interest in striker

Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has confirmed they have knocked back three bids from Charlton Athletic for striker Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Our paper reported on Friday that the Addicks had enquired about the 29-year-old ahead of the winter window opening on January 1.

The ex-Coventry and Bristol Rovers forward scored twice in Posh’s 2-2 draw at home to Barnsley on Friday night.

Fry, 76, told The Peterbrough Telegraph the club had turned down three bids from Michael Appleton’s side.

The striker has 104 goals in 262 League One appearances and was nominated for the competition’s Player of the Season in the last campaign after bagging 26 times in Peterborough’s chase for promotion to the Championship.

“He won’t be leaving for peanuts,” Fry said.

“His scoring record is outstanding and he’s a great bloke to have around the club even when he isn’t playing.”
