Portsmouth in the transfer mix for Charlton loan hit Jayden Stockley
Portsmouth are keen on a summer deal for Charlton target Jayden Stockley.
The Preston North End striker, 27, is keen on a return back down south and spent the second half of last season on loan with the Addicks.
Stockley admitted before the end of the 2020-21 campaign that he would love to make his stay with Charlton a permanent arrangement. But he is still under contract at Deepdale until the summer of 2022 – meaning he is unlikely to be available without a transfer fee being paid.
Stockley scored eight goals in 22 League One appearances for the SE7 club and was their first-choice targetman, Chuks Aneke was largely employed off the bench following his arrival.
“It’s up in the air at the moment. What I can say is I absolutely am loving my time here,” Stockley told The Sun at the start of May. “And this hopefully isn’t the end of my time playing for Charlton.
“If it works for everyone, I would love it. I feel I have so much to give and these are my prime years.”
