Restaurant worker in coma after late-night street assault in Brixton
A man has been left in a coma after he cracked his head on a pavement during an assault outside a Brixton pub.
Police were called out to Ferndale Road, Brixton, where the attack took place on Friday.
The man’s name has been reported locally as 25-year-old Marco Pannone – an Italian national from Fondi, southern Italy.
The victim was working at a restaurant in Ferndale Road at around 9.10pm on Friday, when two unknown men approached him outside and engaged in conversation.
One of the men then punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement. The two suspects then ran off in the direction of Nursery Road.
Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and the victim, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital with possible life-changing injuries. He remains in hospital in an induced coma.
His family were informed and they have since met with the investigating officers from Central South area’s CID.
No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.
