Significant interest in Charlton’s Jayden Stockley – Gillingham, League One and abroad all options
Jayden Stockley is the subject of interest in the January transfer window – with Gillingham one of the clubs keen on acquiring the Charlton Athletic striker.
The Addicks are in the market to bring in a striker this month and Stockley has not been a guaranteed starter in the latter stages of Ben Garner’s short spell in charge or successor Dean Holden.
The South London Press understands that Stockley also has clubs at League One level and abroad mulling over moves.
The 29-year-old scored 20 goals in all competitions last season but Holden recently took the club captaincy off the big centre-forward and handed it to George Dobson.
Gillingham have increased spending power after American businessman Steve Galinson bought a majority stake in the Kent club.
They have since appointed former Millwall manager Kenny Jackett as director of football and Andy Hessenthaler, one of their former players and bosses, as head of recruitment.
Stockley’s Charlton deal runs until the summer of 2024. He signed on a permanent transfer in July 2021 after a successful loan period. Portsmouth had also been in the chase to land him.
