‘A lot more positive’ – Millwall boss provides detailed squad injury return dates as Middlesbrough loanee steps up recovery
Millwall boss Neil Harris is hoping to have near enough a fully fit squad by the start of the next international break.
The Lions boss has provided a detailed injury report on his squad as the second international break of the 2024-25 season comes to a close.
Harris has been without a number of key players this season.
Winger Adam Mayor, 19, suffered a hamstring injury during pre-season.
Midfielder Billy Mitchell has missed the start of the campaign with a quad injury.
Striker loan signing Josh Coburn, who scored against Sheffield Wednesday on his debut, was ruled out for up to two months due to the calf injury he picked up in the 1-0 defeat to Luton.
And fellow forward Tom Bradshaw has also been missing since the EFL Cup defeat at Leyton Orient with a serious hamstring injury.
“It’s getting a lot more positive,” Harris told the South London Press.
“We’re not expecting a lot of returns straightaway, but it’s pleasing for me to see Adam Mayor back in the training group.
“Adam has been out since the end of last season, so we’re bordering on six months. We’re looking at building him up with almost a pre-season.
“He will be integrated into U21 games from next week. He’s still a few weeks away, but it’s positive.
“Shaun Hutchinson is also back into training this week.
“We will be a little bit more aggressive with Shaun because he’s only been missing for a couple of weeks.
“The next week might be too soon for him because he needs to build up a week of training, but maybe we’re looking towards the Swansea game if we’re being a bit more realistic.
“Billy Mitchell will be back into full training starting next week, but Billy, Tom Bradshaw, and Josh Coburn are on the training pitch together and working with the sports science department.
“They’re all edging towards training. We’re hoping Billy will be next week and then Josh and Bradders the week after.
“By the time we come round to Stoke [November 9] and then the following international break, we will have a fully fit squad apart from Callum Scanlon.”
