AFC Wimbledon boss explains absence of key defender in QPR draw and provides update on star striker

BY DAN EVANS

AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson has revealed why defender Hus Biler missed out on Saturday’s 1-1 against QPR at Plough Lane.

A second-half Josh Neufville goal ensured the Dons remain unbeaten in pre-season, but 21-year-old defender Biler was not involved in the matchday squad.

“He [Biler] got a knock in training this week,” Jackson told the South London Press.  “We are just waiting to see the extent of that, but obviously we couldn’t take any chances today.”

Jackson was unable to confirm whether Biler would be available for the opening League Two fixture against Grimsby Town on August 5.

There was a more positive update on striker Ali Al-Hamadi, who played 45 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brentford B on Friday.

“He’ll get more minutes on Tuesday [against Portsmouth], he’ll be involved in that game and we’ll build him up from there,” said Jackson.
