AFC Wimbledon boss explains key midfielder’s injury absence from Carlisle win

Johnnie Jackson has explained why captain Jake Reeves missed AFC Wimbledon’s 4-0 win over Carlisle on Saturday.

Reeves was forced off early in the 3-0 win over Milton Keynes in mid-September and missed games against Bradford and Newcastle.

The 31-year-old played 87 minutes in the 1-0 defeat at Salford but was left out of the matchday squad against Carlisle.

James Ball captained the side, and Callum Maycock joined Myles Hippolyte and Alistair Smith in the middle of the pitch.

“Reevesy came off here against MK with the injury, but we played him at Salford last week,” Jackson said.

“He came out of that still sore and feeling it. We didn’t want to take another chance with him and set him back further.

“He’s definitely on the mend, but today we didn’t want to take a chance.”
