AFC Wimbledon boss hoping to retain star players beyond January transfer window

Johnnie Jackson wants AFC Wimbledon to keep hold of their prize assets in the upcoming January window.

The Dons have sold their star players in recent winter transfer periods – Ollie Palmer moved to Wrexham for £300,000 in January 2021 and Ayoub Assal joined Qatari side Al-Wakrah last January.

Ali Al-Hamadi and Jack Currie have both attracted interest.

“We have plans,” Jackson told the South London Press. “We have spoken about it since the last window shut.

“It’s important that we don’t come out of the next window any weaker than how we go into it – that has been the case in the previous couple of January windows.

“That’s the real focus – we don’t want to lose any of our good players. If there is opportunities to add a couple, we’ll look at it.

“We have to make sure we come out of it stronger, not weaker.”

Wimbledon are 10th in League Two heading into tomorrow’s home clash against Doncaster.
