AFC Wimbledon continue strong friendly form as they draw with Championship opposition

AFC Wimbledon continued their strong pre-season form with a 1-1 draw against Championship side QPR at Plough Lane this afternoon.
A second-half Josh Neufville strike cancelled out Lyndon Dykes’ early opener to make it four friendly matches without defeat for the Dons.
QPR took the lead after three minutes when an underhit back pass from Ryan Johnson allowed Dykes to round Alex Bass and score.
Johnnie Jackson’s men responded well, with James Tilley firing just wide from a 30-yard free-kick.
Moments later, Asmir Begovic – who trained with the Dons earlier in pre-season – was forced into his first save of the afternoon as Tilley shot powerfully at goal.
Bass was called into action next, getting down well to keep out an Andre Dozzell header after some brilliant build up play by Chris Willock.
Only a determined challenge from Morgan Williams stopped Willock doubling QPR’s lead on the 30-minute mark after he had escaped his marker.
The Dons drew level five minutes into the second half, with Neufville curling home his third goal of pre-season from a Tilley cutback.
Wimbledon pushed for a winner in the time that remained, but the closest they came was a Ryan Johnson header into the side netting from a corner.
