AFC Wimbledon v Colchester starting line-ups: Former Dons forward in the visitor’s starting 11

Former AFC Wimbledon forward John-Kymani Gordon stars for Colchester at Plough Lane in the first League Two outing of the 2024-25 season.

But there is no place in Danny Cowley’s squad for former Wimbledon striker Lyle Taylor.

The 34-year-old was open to an emotional return to the Dons, where he scored 55 goals in 150 matches, but penned a one-year deal with the U’s for the upcoming campaign.

Ex-Dons midfielders Alfie Bendle and Alex Woodyard have been named on the bench for the U’s.

Johnine Jackson has handed debuts to Crystal Palace loanee Owen Goodman, James Furlong, Alistair Smith and Matty Stevens.

New signings Joe Pigott, Lewis Ward, Callum Maycock and Myles Hippolyte have been named on the bench.

Wimbledon starting line-up: Goodman, Furlong, Johnson, Lewis, Ogundere, Neufville, Smith, Reeves, Ball, Stevens, Bugiel.

Subs: Ward, Biler, Tilley, Maycock, Kelly, Hippolyte, Pigott.

Colchester: Macey, Iandolo, Goodliffe, Flanagan, Tovide, Payne, Gordon, HopperRead, Hunt, Ihionvien.
