AFC Wimbledon wanted Lincoln match postponed – but EFL instruct them to play

AFC Wimbledon have revealed that the EFL rejected their application to get today’s home League One fixture against Lincoln City postponed.

The Dons tweeted last night: “We have received confirmation from the EFL that tomorrow’s game with Lincoln will go ahead.

“The club had sought permission to postpone the game following positive tests and self-isolation instructions at both clubs, but were instructed to proceed with the match.”

Wimbledon manager Glyn Hodges says that seven of his squad are self-isolating – either after contracting Covid-19 or following guidelines.

“At the moment, we are 12 down,” said the Dons chief. “We’ve got five who either have Covid or are isolating, and two other players who have been isolating and we will know on Saturday morning whether they are going to be involved or not. We’ve also got five injuries.”

The Dons did have matches postponed at the start of November after a number of the squad tested positive for Covid-19
