AFC Wimbledon will have youngest squad in England’s top four divisions

Mark Robinson expects AFC Wimbledon to have the youngest squad in England’s top four divisions this season.

The Dons have signed midfielders George Marsh and Luke McCormick – both 22 – from Tottenham and Chelsea respectively on permanent transfers.

And Joe Pigott and Callum Reilly, each 27, have moved on this summer, although the former is training with the League One club to stay fit.

“I find it hard to believe there will be anyone younger than us,” said head coach Robinson. “One of our guys in recruitment worked out our average age is 22 years and one month.

“We’ve got a bit of experience splattered where we need it, but people get experience and age confused. You can have plenty of life experience and still be quite young.”
