By Isabelle Rogerson

AFC Wimbledon Women claimed a 5-2 win over Chesham United on Sunday.

Faye Baker was called into action straight away as she produced a fine stop to deny the away side the opener.

The Dons won a set piece outside the area. Ashlee Hincks sent in the free kick, which was initially saved by the Chesham goalkeeper, but Billie Brooks was there to tap home the rebound.

Five minutes gone on the clock and it was AFC Wimbledon 1-0 Chesham United.

Baker again produced a wonderful fingertip save to keep the Dons in the lead.

Down the other end, Ashlee Hincks got her head to Emma Plewa’s cross, but she could only find the goalkeeper.

There was some lovely link-up play between Fran Ali and Emma Plewa in the box. Her effort was an excellent one, forcing a fantastic save out of the Chesham goalkeeper.

Chesham came forward and tried their luck as there was a mix up in the Wimbledon defence. Their effort was a long-range one, but somehow ended up nestled in the bottom corner.

It was AFC Wimbledon Women 1-1 Chesham United.

There was more confusion in the Dons defence as the ball came flying towards Kelly Highman. Her touch took the ball away from her and Faye Baker in goal. It ended up in the back of the net, and the away side took the lead, as it was AFC Wimbledon Women 1-2 Chesham United.

Ashlee Hincks had an excellent shot from distance that proved difficult for the Chesham goalkeeper to deal with. It was eventually gathered, as the Dons searched for an equaliser.

Ashlee Hincks then provided a lovely ball to Hannah Billingham in the box. The captain took her chance and found the bottom corner!

Mid-way through the first half it was AFC Wimbledon Women 2-2 Chesham United.

Hannah Billingham put a great cross into the box and Fran Ali managed to get on the end of it. It was an excellent header from the number eight, to give the Dons the lead just before half-time.

It was a goal-fest of a first half. At half-time, it was AFC Wimbledon Women 3-2 Chesham United.

Chesham were forced into a change at half-time as their goalkeeper sustained an injury and couldn’t continue.

Chances came thick and fast for Ashlee Hincks. Eventually, after a lovely ball from Emily Donovan, she got on the scoresheet.

Mid-way through the second-half, Sandra Soares Martins came on for the home side, to replace Emma Plewa.

Nicola Gibson also made way for Steph Mann as she came on for the final half an hour.

The Dons were in control in the final minutes of the game. Molly Childerhouse was introduced in place of Emily Donovan.

After a scramble for the ball, it landed at Hincks’ feet as she took a shot. It went over the top of everyone and the Chesham goalkeeper and ended up in the back of the net. Hincks had two goals to make it AFC Wimbledon 5-2 Chesham United.

Amy Taylor was introduced in the final minutes of the game, replacing Fran Ali who had a stellar game in midfield.

At full-time, it was victory for the Dons. The final score was AFC Wimbledon 5-2 Chesham United.
