AFC Wimbledon Women set for increased home games at Plough Lane
The Dons Trust have announced that agreement has been reached for AFC Wimbledon Women to play at least four matches at Plough Lane next season, with the hope that our new home could host up to eight women’s first-team games.
The agreement has been reached following discussions between The Dons Trust board, AFCWW Chair David Growns, and the board of AFCW PLC. The Dons Trust supports and funds AFC Wimbledon Women directly.
Speaking about the announcement, Chair of The Dons Trust Kris Stewart, said: “Plough Lane is home to all of AFC Wimbledon, and we’re delighted that our women’s team will be playing up to eight matches back at their home next season. We’ve agreed a minimum of four matches, but we always strive to be ambitious, and so we hope that ends up being more.
“Wherever AFC Wimbledon Women play, they are an exciting, vibrant and growing part of the Dons family. We’d like to pay tribute to the Chair David Growns and his fellow directors, volunteers, the manager Kevin Foster and his entire team, and to the club’s General Manager, Sophia Axelsson. It’s their collective hard work that makes our wonderful successful women’s team possible.
“We’d also like to pay thanks to the staff of AFC Wimbledon, who also provide support and help to our women’s team.”
Other fixtures for AFC Wimbledon Women will be played at Carshalton Athletic Football Club, War Memorial Sports Ground, Colston Avenue, Carshalton.
