AFC Wimbledon’s Johnnie Jackson emerges as one of the bookies’ favourites to replace ex-Charlton manager at Oxford

AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson has emerged as one of the bookmakers’ favourites to replace Karl Robinson at Oxford United.

Former Charlton boss Jackson is currently 5/1 to replace Robinson.

Ex-Blackpool boss Michael Appleton [5/2] and Grant McCann [1/1] are currently ahead of Jackson in the betting order.

Jackson joined the Dons in the summer after leaving Charlton, where he led the Addicks to comfortable League One safety after taking over from Nigel Adkins.

The 40-year-old had to rebuild Wimbledon in the summer after the club suffered their first relegation as a phoenix outfit.

Jackson was also forced to rejig his winter window plans after four loanees were recalled and Ayoub Assal was sold.

However, the Dons have only won one of their last 10 outings in League Two and are 11 points off the play-off places.

Robinson, who managed Charlton between November 2016 to March 2018, was approaching five years in charge at the Kassam Stadium.

He was sacked last weekend after Oxford’s 3-0 defeat at home to Bristol Rovers.

Oxford are 17th in League One, five points above the relegation zone.

According to the bookies, Steve Morrison, Robbie Fowler and Mark Warburton are also contenders.
