AFC Wimbledon’s unbeaten run extended to seven games after picking up a point away to Salford City

AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson has highlighted that his side’s unbeaten run has now been extended to seven games in all competitions after they picked up a point away to Salford City in League Two.

The Dons drew 0-0 away to play-off hopefuls Salford at the Peninsula Stadium, with Jackson’s side having more shots on target.

Wimbledon are now seven unbeaten in all competitions since the 1-0 defeat at home to Sutton United on October 15.

“It’s a good, solid point,” Jackson told Wimbledon’s official media channel.

“It’s a tough place to come. At the start, we managed to limit them to a few chances.

“There were relatively few chances in the game – I thought it was a closely contested game.

“They had a good chance at the start and at the end, and I thought we had the better ones between that.

“A really close game, but another clean sheet and a good away performance and a point.

“We’re looking solid. We have given up relatively few chances in the past two matches against two really good teams, so the defensive aspect of the performance pleased me the most.

“I would have liked to create more, but we still carved out a few really good chances.

“We looked really, really solid.”

Wimbledon keeper Nik Tzanev made a vital save in the dying minutes of the game to deny ex-Millwall forward Matt Smith.

“Tzans needed to come up with a big save at the end there,” added Jackson.

“Beyond that, I don’t think he had to make too many. But it’s important that your goalkeeper, even if he’s not got loads to do, in those moments that they’re ready to step up, and that’s exactly what he’s done.”
