Millwall boss Neil Harris wants to take Aiden O’Brien on the club’s Portugal training camp – but the attacker needs to prove he is fit enough first.
The Republic of Ireland international did not travel for Saturday’s 4-0 friendly win at Concord Rangers.
The Lions do not have another match before they jet off but will play English and Portuguese opposition in behind-closed-doors fixtures before returning to the UK.
Harris said: “It’s a tough one for Aiden – it’s a hip-stroke-groin injury.
“Hopefully [he’ll got to Portugal]. We’ve got to get him up to speed. We’ve really got to take it 48 hours at a time with Aiden.
“I was hoping to get him back on the grass today [Saturday]. We’ll know more Monday.
“Aiden will be given every opportunity, up to probably Thursday to show us fitness-wise he should be on the trip. Not necessarily to be able to do a lot of minutes in the games, but certainly to get some minutes.”
