Akin Famewo back on loan with Charlton Athletic – including an option to buy

Charlton Athletic have re-signed Akin Famewo on loan from Norwich City – with the option of a permanent deal.

The centre-back impressed last season, making 22 League One appearances for the South London club. The Addicks’ struggle for form coincided with Famewo and Ryan Inniss, who formed a rock solid partnership, both being sidelined for an extended spell with injuries.

“I’m very pleased, I’m excited to get going,” Famewo told the club’s official website about his return. ” Just being back in the building you can tell there is a good energy, everyone is ready for the fresh start and to get going again.”

Charlton owner Thomas Sandgaard added: “I’m really pleased we’ve been able to welcome Akin back to Charlton as we continue to build our squad for next season.

“I was very impressed watching him last season and I know he also impressed Nigel and our fans, so it is exciting we’ve been able to bring him in.”

The Addicks confirmed earlier this morning that right-back Adam Matthews had signed a one-year contract.
