Alcaraz v Berrettini 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3
Number one seed Carlos Alcaraz, who has already put a marker down in this tournament, but proved tonight why he is the man to beat after dispatching tough Italian Matteo Berrettini in four sets under the lights and closed roof of Centre Court.
The Spain youngster, still only 20, lost the first set 3-6, but never lost his composure as he arrowed into the quarter-finals with three straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
Never, did the man from Murica in the Costa Blanco, falter in his belief, that he could out serve, out return, out smash, out lob, out drive his opponent. And he did all of that and more.
The mental agility and strength of youth was in evidence throughout the three hours and five minute encounter.
As it turned out the last part of the fourth set was played under the lights and closed roof.
But it did little to alter the direction of travel in favour of the Spaniard.
Berrettini, did little wrong, but what he did do, cost him dearly.
