Alphonse Areola gives his verdict after being voted Fulham’s Player of the Season

Alphonse Areola says he’s proud to have been voted Fulham’s 2020-21 Player of the Season.

The Frenchman signed on a season-long loan from Paris Saint Germain.

Areola has kept nine clean sheets for the Whites this season and has played every minute in all but one of Fulham’s Premier League games.

Joachim Andersen and Harrison Reed came second and third respectively in the vote.

Speaking to Fulham’s club website, Areola said: “I’m really, really grateful for the support. I just want to say thank you to them.

“I tried to give my best this year and it’s a real achievement for me to get this title. It shows that I’ve done good work, so I’m happy about that.

“I’ve won some player of the months at clubs, and player of the season with FIFA, but this one is different.

“I just want to say thank you, but I’m not the only one who has had a big season, so I’m really proud to receive this.

“I hope that the team will be back in the Premier League soon!”
