‘Amazing job’ – Reading boss reacts to emphatic 4-0 EFL Cup win over Millwall

Reading head coach Ruben Selles hailed his side’s performance after they dumped Millwall out of the EFL Cup in the first round.

The League One side ran out 4-0 winners thanks to a double from Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and second-half strikes from Charlie Savage and Mamadi Camara.

Reading suffered an opening-day defeat at home to Peterborough in Selles’ first game in charge since taking over in the summer.

“The boys did a fantastic job,” said the ex-Southampton head coach.

“They were ready from minute zero until the last part of the game.

“I’m happy with the performance we put together and I’m happy we saw some of the things we have worked on coming together.

“The boys did an amazing job.”

The victory over Millwall was Reading’s first win under Selles and their first away win in all competitions since they beat Blackpool 3-1 in late February.

“This was the first win for me as Reading manager today,” added Selles.

“That is always important as it not only tells you that you can win matches, but the way we did it today shows the players are confident in the project and everybody is pointing in the same direction.

“It shows the great job everybody is doing.”
