Andy Woodman: ‘Bromley will do everything possible to help Michael Cheek land League Two Golden Boot’

Andy Woodman says Bromley will do everything possible to help Michael Cheek win the League Two Golden Boot this season.

The 33-year-old netted his 15th goal of the season in his debut EFL campaign during the 1-0 win over Fleetwood on Saturday.

Cheek is up against AFC Wimbledon’s Matty Steves, 16, Notts County’s Alassana Jatta, 14, and his team-mate David McGoldrick, 13.

Nathan Lowe was running away with the award but the Walsall forward was recalled by Stoke in the January window.

“I would like Michael Cheek to do it – I would do,” Woodman told the South London Press.

“We will be doing everything possible because it means that if Michael Cheek is top goalscorer then we have finished alright.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if he finished at the top.

“It would be wrong of me to say that it wouldn’t be in his focus to do that, because I know how he’s driven.

“I say it all the time – Michael Cheek has been brilliant for this football club and for me.

“It would be a fitting end to this season after everyone questioned him for many years.

“Of course, he could do it in the league. He’s not quick or have a good touch, but what he does has have is an intelligence around the goal.

“That will keep him in good stead for many years.”
