Andy Woodman makes Bromley hope after ending League Two winless run at Doncaster
Andy Woodman is hoping Tuesday night’s 1-0 win at Doncaster will breathe confidence into his Bromley squad after they ended their nine-game wait for a League Two win, writes Edmund Brack.
The Ravens had been without three points since their 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on August 17.
Ex-Millwall midfielder Ben Thompson scored the only goal of the game in the 20th minute when he finished off a corner routine.
Bromley keeper Grant Smith made seven saves to keep his clean sheet intact and take three points back to Hayes Lane.
The South Londoners have moved five points clear of the bottom two and ended a four-game winless run, drawing two of those.
Boss Woodman told BBC London Sport: “You could argue that we had our backs against the wall, but I don’t think many teams will come here and not have their back against the wall.
“I was a bit disappointed because we started brightly and that sums us up a little bit lately. We start well in games, but we haven’t been ruthless or clinical enough in front of goal.
“That’s always a concern, especially when coming to Doncaster. They had their moments – let’s give them respect – but my goalkeeper was excellent and made some big saves.
“We were resolute in our defending and we were really disciplined. I’m chuffed with the performance.
“I’m delighted that we got it across the line. It will breath a bit of confidence in the football club, not just the team.
“It’s about time we had a little bit of lady luck go our way.”
Bromley are at home to Barrow on Saturday (3pm).
