Ben Marshall looking for instant impact after sealing Millwall return

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Ben Marshall is planning to “hit the ground running” after completing a loan return to Millwall.

The Lions wanted the winger in the summer but lost out to Norwich City, who could offer a bigger fee and wages to the 27-year-old.

But Marshall had not played for the high-flying Canaries since the end of August.

He was in the Den crowd for Saturday’s Championship match on Saturday.

Millwall agreed the terms of a loan deal on Monday afternoon and Marshall headed to South London today to finalise the temporary switch.

He told the club’s official website: “I still speak to a lot of the boys and they keep me updated with how everyone is getting on. They’re a great bunch of lads and it’s nice to keep in contact. I’m looking forward to getting into training on Thursday and giving the lads some stick.

“[The fans] looked after me and helped me with stuff. I just hope they can get behind me. I’ll give my all for them. I’m really excited to be back and I’ve got love for this football club – it’s not a secret. I just want what’s best for the football club and if I can do that, it’s smiles all round.”

Marshall joined the Lions in the last January window and was a big factor in them soaring up the table with a storming run in the second half of the campaign.

“I’m made up – it’s a bonus,” he said. “I was here last year, so I know the club and the lads already.

“I went to Norwich in the summer but it’s not happened there, so I’ve had to look at playing games elsewhere.

“It’s a similar situation to last year. All I want to do is my best for the lads, the manager and the fans, and if I can replicate what I did last year, which I was proud of and I enjoyed, then I’ll be made up.”
