Blackburn Rovers midfielder set for Crystal Palace medical

Crystal Palace have agreed a deal with Blackburn Rovers to sign midfielder Adam Wharton.

The Eagles submitted a bid which could rise to £22million with add-ons and the 19-year-old is now set for a medical.

Palace’s first bid of £15m, with £3.5m in add-ons, was turned down by Rovers.

Wharton has made 26 appearances in the Championship this season, scoring two twice and recording three assists.

He has been capped by England at U19 and U20 level and featured 51 times for Blackburn in the senior side, making his first-team debut as a 17-year-old.

The Eagles have been long-term admirers of Wharton and now look set to land him on a permanent signing.
