Blackheath & Bromley set for round two of the National Athletic League campaign

BY PAUL HALFORD

Blackheath & Bromley will be seeking to continue their solid start to their National Athletics League campaign when they travel to west London for their second-round match on Saturday.

Four weeks ago they were second on home soil to Thames Valley Harriers and they are fifth out of the 16 teams across the Premier Division.

They hope to have triple jumper Jonathan Ilori, who was fourth last weekend at the British Athletics Championships and Olympic trials, plus Olympic marathoner Scott Overall, both subject to last-minute injury checks.

Tom Parker, who has thrown 67.68m in the hammer, is back from the United States and in form with his recent ninth at the trials.

Bailey Stickings (400m hurdles), Kelechi Aguocha (high jump), Ben Sutton (long jump) and Sam Reardon (800m) will be looking for wins in their respective events.

Last time out, women’s team manager Niamh Brudson-Hubbard boosted their tally with a pair of wins at 800m and 3,000m.

The team will also hope to call on EnglandU23 Anastasia Davies in the 100m hurdles, English junior champion Nana Gyedu and javelin thrower Lauren Farley, who was fourth in the javelin at the British Championships.

B&B will again take on Thames Valley Harriers, Southampton and Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow. As each athlete is allotted performance points, they will effectively be competing against all clubs at the four venues of the Premier division on the same day.
