Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt expects Nigel Adkins to be a success at Charlton Athletic

Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt has backed Nigel Adkins to turn around Charlton Athletic’s fortunes.

The two clubs clash at The Valley tonight with the Addicks in the League One relegation zone and just one victory on the board, putting aside the EFL Trophy drubbing of Crawley Town.

Charlton have taken two points from a possible 12.

Wanderers had started their campaign in positive fashion but will be bidding to halt a run of two successive defeats.

Some Addicks supporters in the Covered End at The Valley chanted for the removal of Adkins during Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Portsmouth, shortly after they fell behind to a superb strike by Ronan Curtis.

“Managers need time, it was the same with Paul Cook at Ipswich,” Evatt told The Bolton News. “Nigel is a very experienced manager, a good manager, and he will get it right.

“But at this minute in time we have stability, we have carried momentum through from last season and I think in terms of what we are producing I am very pleased.

“We need to go there and do what we do, really, and it should be good enough provided we start taking those opportunities in the final third.”
