Bradley Skeete loses two stone as he gets in shape for ring return – and would drop to welter for Conor Benn clash

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Former British champion Bradley Skeete is targeting a ring return after losing more than two stone in weight.

The Tooting-born fighter, 33, has not boxed since December 2018.

But Skeete, above, has got back into tip-top shape after opting to be trained by Sheffield-based Dominic Ingle since September.

The ex-Earlsfield ABC amateur is a free agent promotionally. He is moving up to super-welterweight.

“I know I can make welter but I feel this is a fresh start and time to step up,” said Skeete. “The only fight that would interest me at 147 [pounds] is Conor Benn.

“Eddie Hearn [Matchroom Boxing] was in touch in June or July to offer me that but I wasn’t in the gym or training.

“Now I’m more than happy to take that fight.

“I’d like to have a chat with Eddie, I think he is doing good things and he has got a lot of dates and shows coming up.

“It’s a business at the end of the day. If the right opportunity comes up then I’ll fight on any platform.

“All the time I feel good and I’m winning then age is just a number. I’ve got the sort of style that means I haven’t taken too much punishment. I feel fresh and brand new. The time off has done me good.”
