Bristol City strike double defender deal with Fulham
Fulham duo Steven Sessegnon and Alfie Mawson have joined Bristol City on loan.
Sessegnon, 20, started last season as first choice at Craven Cottage but dropped out of Scott Parker’s side at the start of October.
He made only seven appearances after that as Cyrus Christie and Denis Odoi moved ahead of him in the pecking order.
Sessegnon – whose twin Ryan starred for Fulham before earning a big-money switch to Tottenham – said: “It’s an exciting team with brilliant players and with how the league looks this year I don’t see why we can’t be up there, I’m looking forward to getting going.”
Centre-back Mawson, 26, cost in the region of £20million when he signed for the Whites from Swansea when they were last in the Premier League.
But he has been dogged by injury issues and only featured twice in the Championship once Michael Hector was available for selection at the start of January.
City head coach Dean Holden said: “I’ve watched Alfie develop over the last few years and I’ve always liked him as a player.
“He fits perfectly the profile of player I want in our squad. Having spoken to him at length, he is keen to be part of what we are building here.
“I am aware there were other clubs in for him but he felt this was the right place for him.”
