Brit Burrage bows out 6-0/6-2 to Kasatkina on Centre Court

Brit Jodie Burrage bowed out of this year’s Championship’s soundly beaten 6-0/6-2 in exactly an hour by Daria Kasatkina.
Burrage had seen off American Caty McNally in similar fashion on Monday but never really got to grips with this match against the number 11 seed, playing under a neutral banner as all Russians and Belarussians are this year.
Kasatkina rushed through the first set in just 19 minutes, Burrage conceding her first service game with a double fault and her second to love as Kasatkina threatened to completely run away with things.

Burrage showed some signs of fight in the fifth game, recovering from 30-0 down to earn her first break point. But her opponent saved it and duly held for 5-0.
And another double fault from the Brit handed Kasatkina the first set 6-0.
Kasatkina started the second as she had finished the first and easily held for 1-0, but the Centre Court crowd got behind the Brit as she finally won her first game for 1-1 as Kasatkina hit a backhand into the net.
Things seemed to be turning round for Burrage who then secured her first break of service – to love.
The next game had a huge feel to it – hold for 3-1 and Burrage was really back in the match.
She had game points to indeed make it 3-1, but two poor shots into the net handed the initiative back to her opponent who broke straight back.
A 24-minute rain delay did Burrage no favours and she looked unlikely to make any real inroads upon the resumption.
Burrage admitted touching the net when winning a point with a smash at 2-2, an infringement nobody else on Centre Court noticed.
That contributed to Kasatkina holding her serve, and when she broke the Brit in the next game the writing was being daubed on the wall.
Kasatkina saved two more break points to hold for a 5-2 lead and Burrage netted to confirm her defeat.
