Bromley boss Andy Woodman’s verdict on 4-3 win over Woking

Bromley manager Andy Woodman praised James Alabi for his role in their dramatic 4-3 win at Woking on Tuesday evening.
The game looked like it was going to swing in the favour of the hosts when Sam Dalby put the home side 3-2 ahead in the 81st minute before James Alabi and an own goal turned the game on its head with just two minutes to go.
Woodman told Bromley’s official website: “I didn’t think they caused us that many problems, apart from that long ball into the box to their big fella. We knew that was going to be a problem and how you defend that is always going to be awkward.
“We didn’t play particularly well in the first half. A few words at half time and the lads reacted well. They could have gone the other way and crumbled, but they reacted exactly as I hoped they would. Yet again they’ve come back fighting, fair play to them.
“That ball into the box, we didn’t defend it well enough. That’s been unlike us lately. We’ve won our first headers but he’s a big character that boy. He’s a tall boy so it was always going to cause us problems and today it did. It fell to him in the box and we didn’t react and that’s what happens at this level, if you do that you’re going to concede.
“James Alabi played a big part when he came on. He was strong, he held it up for us and wow, what a goal.
“It’s been a tough turn around. Taylor [Maloney] has a little injury and that’s why we have to keep juggling around with the squad. Jude Arthurs played at right-back. He can play at right-back, centre midfield, he does everything. He’s a really good, tenacious young man.
“We have a team with fight and desire, which is fantastic. They keep churning out these results, so I’m chuffed. I’m chuffed for them. it sounds a bit of a cliche but this has never been about me coming here with these boys. It’s about me giving them a little bit of direction and I’m really chuffed they have the direction at the moment and it’s falling for us a little bit.”
Woodman wants to carry on the good form on Saturday when the Ravens travel to Chesterfield on Saturday.
“It’s going to be a tough game up there but with the way we are going we could do all sorts. I can’t predict how it’s going to be.”
