Bromley gameplan comes off as they take maximum points away from trip to FC Halifax Town

BY KAI BENNETT

Andy Woodman reckoned Bromley’s gameplan worked a treat as they won 2-1 at FC Halifax Town on Saturday.

Goals from Michael Cheek, pictured, and James Alabi secured all three points for the Ravens.

Speaking to Bromley’s club website, Woodman said: “We’ve shown a little bit of steel.

“It was a little bit more like I want my Bromley team to play. I’m disappointed with the goal we conceded because our aim was to keep a clean sheet, but Halifax are a good team. We knew that and we showed them the respect they deserve and frustrated them.

“The gameplan seemed to work. They’re a good team and it would be unfair to say it was miraculous stuff from us because they played on Tuesday. We know how hard it is to play Saturday-Tuesday at any level. But at this level, it’s like a war.

“We stuck to our game plan, there was a couple of moments where we didn’t and we got the result.

“It was a good penalty by Michael Cheek and a good performance by him and all the lads.

“We have a real young bunch and we’re having a go.”

Woodman hailed Birmingham City loanee Tate Campbell and James Alabi.

“I’m delighted with him because he’s been patient. Birmingham City have been brilliant they haven’t put us under any pressure. I’ve had constant dialogue with the people at Birmingham. They know my thoughts and how we’re trying to get him into the team. I was made up for him [when he got an assist] he’s a terrific kid, a terrific professional and a credit to his parents and Birmingham City Football Club.

“He’s trained brilliantly this week and he was ready to come on and he did a really stellar job for us.

“James [Alabi] was great. You can’t get too carried away and we’re on to the next game now which will be tough, so we’ll go again.”

Bromley host Chesterfield on Tuesday and Woodman is looking forward to it.

“We’re at home on Tuesday, it will be a tough game. We’ve seen that everyone can beat everyone in this league. Our feet are firmly on the floor at the moment. I said to the lads in there, if you trust the process and stick to the process and be disciplined we’ll win more than we lose and at the moment that’s happening, so that’s great.”
