Bromley manager Andy Woodman proud of performance against big-spending Wrexham

Andy Woodman was delighted with Bromley’s clean sheet in their 0-0 draw against Wrexham at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Bromley are ninth in the National League after their stalemate against the Welsh side, who bought AFC Wimbledon striker Ollie Palmer in January for £300,000.

Woodman said: “We could’ve won it, it was tight….it could’ve gone either way. We were the better team but it’s a clean sheet and a good point against a top team who have won seven on the spin.

“Without sounding negative we were good for the point but on another day we could’ve got all three. We pushed the other night to get the win against Halifax and then got caught by a sucker punch.

“We pushed again today and there was a little bit of nerves from me and the players. We’ve got to win football matches but we’re realistic that they are a good team and if you switch off for a moment with the quality of their team, they’ll undo you and score.

“We shouldn’t underestimate but they’re miles in front of us. With the size of their club, squad and the quality of players they’ve bought. Our players were brilliant.

“No supporter could complain of how we’re competing against a club like Wrexham and I’m really proud of the boys. We could’ve won it and there is a slight disappointment in the dressing room. But we got a good point here and we have to kick on now.

“It’s just a shame we couldn’t send them [the supporters] home with a win but we have to build on this now. A clean sheet against Wrexham and a good performance against Halifax, although we didn’t get the result. We’ve got to keep plugging away at this stage of the season to try and get points on the board and we will do it.

“Another trip away to Yeovil that won’t be easy, no game is easy. We’re all seeing that and we will prepare for that and hopefully we can come back with some points.”
