Bromley suffer play-off push setback at Sutton United
Bromley’s National League play-off hopes were dealt another blow after a 3-2 loss at local rivals Sutton United on Tuesday.
The Ravens have taken one point from a possible 12 on their travels in the National League.
This was their 10th defeat of the campaign and leaves them 11th in the standings – four points behind seventh-placed Eastleigh, who they head to tomorrow.
Bromley twice led at The Knights Community Stadium in a fixture that had originally been scheduled for early January until a covid outbreak. Michael Cheek nudged them in front on 14 minutes from Jack Bridge’s pullback, only for Craig Eastmond to level early in the second half.
Courtney Duffus put Neil Smith’s side 2-1 ahead with 25 minutes remaining, rifling home when a Frankie Raymond free-kick was partially cleared.
But the visitors suffered disaster in the closing stages as Harry Beautyman struck from close range in the 86th minute and then Will Randall’s shot deflected wickedly off former Millwall centre-back Byron Webster (pictured above) deep in stoppage time.
