Cardiff City working on deal for Charlton attacker Jonny Williams

Cardiff City are interested in signing Charlton Athletic attacker Jonny Williams.

The Bluebirds recently appointed Mick McCarthy as manager – succeeding former Millwall boss Neil Harris – and the Yorkshireman has twice signed the 27-year-old on loan during his time in charge at Ipswich Town.

Williams is out of contract at the end of June. The Championship side are reportedly ready to pay £200,000 for the Wales international.

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has already indicated that no contract talks will progress with his current squad until the transfer window closes. The SE7 outfit are believed to be working on at least a couple of deals before tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.

The interest from Cardiff means that Williams will be able to secure extra security on his deal and also command Championship football.

The ex-Crystal Palace man has featured 21 times in all competitions for the Addicks this season but has made only seven League One starts.
