Catford Wanderers Tennis: Mixed first team suffer narrow defeat to Wickham Park

BY DENIS COSTELLOE

Catford Wanderers mixed first team narrowly defeated Wickham Park 3-2 in their evening midweek fixture.

The result was mainly down to the straight sets 6-2 6-4 victory for Sean Harvey and Annis Frimpong over Albert Akenoe and Kayya Sheath.

Leigh Cole and Stephanie James shared sets with the same pair later.

Wanderers’ third pair of John Clay and Julia Garling lost both their matches.

Catford’s mixed second side were well-beaten by Sundridge Park.

There was better news for the men’s 60 side of John Clay, Rob Dawbarn, Jeff Titus and Brian Brass, who kept their challenge for league honours on track with a comfortable win over Crescent.
