Catford’s Joe Gomez unlikely to play again this season for Liverpool

Catford’s Joe Gomez is unlikely to play again for Liverpool this season due to his knee injury.
That is the verdict of Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.
The former Charlton centre-back, 23, has been out of action since suffering the setback while training with England. Klopp said: “Joe Gomez is actually in a pretty good place, but far away from being back.
“So he walks round, looks completely normal, is not yet out on the pitch running, or even out of the gym. It’s just a really tough injury as well.
“Will he be available this season? When does the season end, May? It will be close at least I would say. I don’t expect…well, I would be positively surprised if he would be back this season, to be honest.
“We see the situation. We lost probably two of the best centre-halves [Gomez and Virgil van Dijk] in the whole market in a period of six or seven weeks. For the whole season. That’s massive. And then you have to find solutions in that moment.”
Gomez moved from the Addicks to the Merseyside giants in July 2015.
He has won the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with Liverpool.
