Championship side set to reignite their interest in Crystal Palace defender
Bristol City are expected to reignite their interest in Crystal Palace defender Jake O’Brien this summer.
The South London Press understands that the Robins have kept tabs on O’Brien throughout the second half of the season – despite failing to agree a loan deal with Palace in the winter transfer window – and are even more determined to land the centre-back this upcoming summer.
O’Brien has spent the season on loan at R.W.D Molenbeek.
The 21-year-old has played a starring role in their charge to the top of the Belgian Challenger Pro League, making 29 appearances in all competitions as Molenbeek look set to win promotion to the top division.
O’Brien joined the Eagles in 2021 from Cork City for an undisclosed fee and featured under Patrick Vieira during the pre-season tour of Singapore and Australia, playing against Liverpool and Manchester United in the build-up to this season.
The 6ft six defender has a year left to go on his deal at Selhurst Park and has been capped 11 times by the Republic of Ireland at U21 level.
A number of other Championship sides have also scouted ex-Swindon Town loanee O’Brien throughout the course of the season.
