Charlton Athletic boss expecting improved squad options for Huddersfield Town match
Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones is expecting some of his injured players to be back available for Saturday’s League One match at Huddersfield Town.
Addicks vice-captain Lloyd Jones has been a major miss along with a number of other senior professionals like Kayne Ramsay, Chuks Aneke, Will Mannion and Tyreece Campbell.
Jones has talked about “some big players” being sidelined. When asked by the South London Press how many could be back to face the Terriers, the Welshman said: “Well, we’re in a better position than we were two weeks ago, before the Exeter game, but there are still some big players out.
“We’re literally, and it’s not me being clever or coy, taking it day to day because it is very complex. People are having certain setbacks or we are trying to push people – safely – and then they are not reacting as well as we could.
“There are a few ongoing moving parts at the moment. What I can say is we will be stronger, in terms of squad, than against Exeter. But who that will be, that’s a daily thing.”
There were reports that Kaheim Dixon was unable to play for Jamaica in their CONCACAF Nations League Finals quarter-final second leg against USA on November 19 because he had lost his passport.
The 20-year-old winger, signed in the summer by the Addicks, was an unused substitute in the first leg at Kingston’s Independence Park.
Jones said: “We knew all about it. He didn’t lose his passport. I think it was stolen when he was in this country, so he had a temporary one. That meant he could travel to Jamaica and play in Jamaica – he just couldn’t get the visa required for going to America.
“That was it. It was all innocent. It wasn’t a mix-up or anything – we knew that before he went. The issue was him going into the USA, they have very strict visa regulations and that was the problem with Kaheim.”
