Charlton Athletic boss having future talks with his squad over weekend

Dean Holden is having conversations with Charlton’s players about the futures this weekend.

The Addicks have a number of players who will be out of contract at the end of June including first-teamers such as Ryan Inniss, Sean Clare, Michael Hector, Terell Thomas, Aaron Henry and Albie Morgan.

Holden has already made the call to not involved loanees Matt Penney and Gavin Kilkenny at Cheltenham tomorrow. And striker Macauley Bonne, a six-month signing after his QPR deal was ripped up by mutual consent, has also been told that his campaign is over.

The Charlton boss told the South London Press: “I’ll be speaking to a number of players, both in contract and out of contract, around Friday and travelling to the game on Saturday, because we are staying over due to it being an early kick off.

“There will plenty of time for me to speak to individual players. I speak to the players all the time, anyway. Some I’ll speak to after the season finishes regarding next season.

“It’s important to keep that communication with them about where we are as a club and where we’re looking to get to next season. What their aspirations are, with certain players.

“Once the game is out of the way Sunday then I imagine some news will form, in terms of players we’re looking to retain and players we’re looking to release.”
