Charlton Athletic boss on Kayne Ramsay injury: “It’s not really positive news”
Kayne Ramsay looks set to face an extended spell on the sidelines with the knee injury that forced him off in Charlton Athletic’s 1-1 draw against Stockport last weekend.
The defender has been one of the club’s most impressive performers this season.
Ramsay, 24, had started 10 of their opening 11 League One matches but had to be replaced in the 37th minute last weekend.
Charlton manager Nathan Jones was asked for an update today when he conducted his media duties ahead of Saturday’s visit of Wrexham.
“Look, it’s not a good injury,” said the Welshman. “No injury is a good injury but it’s not really positive news. There are things in the knee, so we’re waiting for a bit of diagnosis – in terms of timescales and stuff.
“It’s not an easy injury, it’s not like he is going to back in weeks. That is a blow for the boy, firstly, but also for us because he has been in such good form.”
Centre-back Lloyd Jones had played every minute this season before sitting out the last two fixtures.
Striker Gassan Ahadme sustained a chest injury at Bristol Rovers and has been unavailable in the three matches since then.
Jones told the South London Press: “Gassan is a lot closer than Lloyd is (to being back).
“Lloyd is just a resting thing, really. He hasn’t got any muscular injuries, something showed up that he just needs to rest and then he’ll be back. We’ll speed that up a little bit.
“Gassan is back in training. It’s just when it is safe to bring him in.”
