Charlton Athletic boss provides injury update – with midfielder a fresh doubt for Shrewsbury match

Jake Forster-Caskey is a fresh injury doubt for Charlton Athletic’s home game against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

But the Addicks have had plenty of good news this week with centre-back Ryan Inniss and midfielder Alex Gilbey both resuming full training today.

Right-back Adam Matthews (hamstring) is ruled out for around the next 10 days after coming off last weekend at Oxford United.

“There are a couple who are really tired – Jake came off the other night with a bit of a tight hamstring,” said Charlton manager Lee Bowyer.

“Akin [Famewo] is expected to be back in. He was more rested the other day because he had played a lot of games in a short space of time after a long injury. We’ve let him settle down a little bit.

“Ryan will be training with us and so will Gilbey. So it is pretty much a full squad, apart from Jake. I don’t know if that was just a bit of fatigue.

“Ryan will have an U23 game next week. We’ll get some minutes into him. We’ll see how he goes today and tomorrow. We have to judge him day by day because he has been out a long time. We won’t put him in unless he is ready.

“Gilbey had done well in a couple of U23 games before he got his injury. That was disappointing, he was probably going to start the game just before that happened.”
