Charlton Athletic boss provides update on search for new coaching addition

Michael Appleton has addmited the club are keen on getting a balance within his coaching staff as the Charlton Athletic head coach searches for a first-team coach.

Appleton has already added Richard O’Donnell and Stephen Henderson to his backroom team, with Danny Senda and Glyn Shimell both leaving their roles as assistant manager and goalkeeper coach when Dean Holden was sacked.

The Addicks host Reading this Saturday and are unbeaten in the five outings under Appleton since the former Blackpool boss took the job.

“These things take time,” Appleton told the South London Press.

“From a club point of view, they want to get the balance right.

“We have a lot of young players coming through the academy because of how good the academy has been, so it’s just making sure that with the personality and experience, the club are keen to make sure that’s the right appointment.”
