Charlton Athletic boss ready to weigh up striker recall after Chuks Aneke injury setback

Charlton Athletic will weigh up recalling Daniel Kanu from his loan at Southend United once his initial 28-days with the National League club has passed.

The striker scored four goals for the Shrimpers last weekend as they beat Solihull Moors 5-0.

The Addicks have seen their frontline options depleted after Chuks Aneke was ruled out for at least a couple of months due to a hamstring injury.

Asked if Kanu’s situation is something to think about once he can be brought back to SE7, Charlton head coach Michael Appleton said: “It is. It’s unrealistic not to. You’ve got to think of all your options.

“When I first came in DK was chomping at the bit to get first-team football. We had the option of Chuks at that time.

“Now it is gone it is something we can look at.”
